The housing crisis and building better
The on-going UK housing crisis has driven the UK Government to consider radical ways to increase output and quality of new homes, whilst driving up productivity, reducing emissions and, critically, addressing cost. This ‘presumption in favour of offsite’ is creating a housing revolution that is great in principle, but the policy and market are far ahead of the sector's ability to change how it specifies and procures for a manufactured product.
It is even more complex in the social housing sector, where the desire to build more can be frustrated by access to finance and the right expertise.
